The building had to be completely rehabilitated after a fire and in that context was converted from dormitories with shared bathrooms to 63 student dormitories with private bathrooms and a 4-department nursery over the 2 bottom floors. The nursery has 4 bases with a total of 60 children.
The building is located on sloping ground and therefore has access from both nursery floors to the ground and also from the student dormitories which are located on two floors from the 3rd floor level. These have been given a bridge that goes over the outdoor area of the kindergarten and into the 3rd floor.
The nursery is designed with common areas such as a sensory room, gym and theater space and provides good opportunities for varied play and organized activities for the children.
New entrances have been established in white concrete as a contrast to the building's red brick facades. These were designed to shield and provide room for the functions the nursery needs in its outdoor area. The building also had accessibility requirements and the entrances have been given new ramps.
The nursery has been given large internal sliding walls where you can close off smaller areas or open up for greater unfolding. Existing floor wells are used for treasure chests and art decorations made by the children.
